A massive fire broke out at the New OPD Block of IGMC Shimla
A massive fire has broken out in the Canteen located on the top floor of the IGMC New OPD Block and Trauma Centre in today’s morning hours. Witness says two LPG Gas cylinders exploded which added fuel to the fire.
The State Spokesperson of the Disaster Management Authority said that an incident Hospital fire occurred at New OPD Building IGMC Shimla. Huge flames and clouds of smoke were visible on the top floor of the hospital.
The incident has created panic among the patients admitted to old and new hospital buildings of the IGMC complex.
Fire tenders rushed to the spot to control the fire as soon as the fire department was alerted.
The new OPD block and Trauma center was inaugurated by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu last month.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known, but the eyewitnesses say that the fire broke out in the Canteen area and two Gas Cylinder explosions were heard.
The fire brigade is facing the difficult task of fighting the fire.
