CPI (M), submitted a memorandum to Jal Shakti Dept against mental harassment of the family of Taj Mohammad

A delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), led by party leader Rakesh Singha, met with the Chief Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department, Mrs. Anju Sharma, and submitted a memorandum to her against the mental harassment of the family of Taj Mohammad from Churah, Chamba, by disrupting their water supply. The delegation included Party State Secretary Sanjay Chauhan, District Secretary Vijendra Mehra, Vivek Kashyap, Sunny Sikta, Ram Prakash, Hemraj Chaudhary, Mukesh Kumar, Deepak, Kishore, Anil, Sanju, and others. The Chief Engineer has directed the Superintending Engineer, Chamba, to restore Taj Mohammad’s water connection within one day and send an investigation report to the headquarters.

Party leader Rakesh Singha said that failure to provide basic amenities based on religion, caste, region, race, or gender reflects the biased functioning of the system and administration. This is a direct violation of Article 14 of the Constitution, which grants the right to equality. It is also a violation of Article 21 of the Constitution, which grants the right to life. In a state like Himachal, which has always been very high on social concerns and standards, disrupting or not providing water supply is inhumane and condemnable. Taj Mohammad’s daughter is deeply saddened and hurt by this incident, along with other events, and has publicized her pain on social media. The failure of the Jal Shakti Department to provide just five half-inch pipes over the last eight months exposes the entire system. The intimidation of this family by some goons and the local officials of the Jal Shakti Department working under the pressure of these goons is against their service conditions. This is an open insult to the Indian Constitution. The role of the local MLA is highly suspicious in this matter, and it appears that he is the mastermind behind this entire incident. Such an attitude from an elected MLA is anti-people and inhumane. He warned that if the water supply to the victim’s house is not ensured within one day, party workers will sit on a continuous dharna outside the Chief Engineer’s office.
