A Community Rallies: Mandi Opens Its Doors to Those Affected by Rains

In the wake of relentless heavy rains, the community of Mandi subdivision is coming together to provide shelter, comfort, and crucial support to those displaced by the resulting disasters. The local administration has swiftly established a network of relief camps, ensuring no one is left without essential care.

Leading the efforts, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rupindra Kaur confirmed that nine relief camps have been set up across strategic locations, including community halls, schools, and temples. These sanctuaries are currently providing a safe haven for hundreds of affected individuals and families.

“The well-being of every displaced person is our utmost priority,” stated SDM Kaur. “We have ensured that each camp is equipped with proper sleeping arrangements, regular meals, and access to clean drinking water, electricity, and sanitation facilities.”

The camps are located at:

· Panchayat Bhawan Mandi
· District Panchayat Resource Center Sadayana
· Laxmi Narayan Mandir Pandoh
· Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Pandoh
· Ravmapa Pandoh
· IRB Pandoh
· Army Transit Camp 239
· Bipasha Sadan Bhayuli
· District Parishad Bhawan Bhayuli

Beyond shelter, the administration is also ensuring health and mobility. Free medical facilities, essential medicines, and first aid are available at all camps to attend to the needs of the residents.

Understanding the broader impact of the weather, the relief operation also extends to stranded travelers. With the Mandi-Kullu route disrupted, mobile vans are delivering food and water to hundreds of drivers and passengers waiting in their vehicles, ensuring they are cared for until the road is clear and they can safely continue their journeys.

This comprehensive response highlights a dedicated effort to offer not just shelter, but also dignity and compassion to the community during a challenging time.
