A coach overturned near Dhali – Shimla bus – a major accident was averted due to the driver’s presence of mind
A major accident was averted when the HRTC Dibber-Dharech-Shimla bus overturned near Dhali in the Rajgarh block. Three people, including the driver and conductor, sustained minor injuries and were immediately taken to the civil hospital in a private vehicle. According to police sources, bus number HP 03B-6160 departed Dibber for Shimla at 7 a.m. Just six kilometers later, at around 7:30 a.m., the bus developed a technical fault near Dhali. The driver, with great forethought, crashed the bus into a hill, causing it to overturn. Otherwise, the bus could have spiraled out of control and rolled into the Giri River, potentially resulting in the loss of several lives. Sources say the bus’s belts broke.
Brijesh Kumar, in-charge of the Sheelabagh police post, stated that the bus was carrying only 6-7 passengers, including the driver and conductor. Upon receiving the information, a team from the Sheelabagh police post arrived at the scene and began investigating the accident. The Neripul-Sanaura-Solan road had been closed since morning due to the bus overturn. The police station in-charge stated that the bus was removed from the road after a crane arrived in the afternoon, reopening the road for heavy vehicles around 3 p.m. He stated that a thorough investigation is underway into the accident.
