4752 cases of HIV in Himachal, 70 succumbs every year of AIDS

As many as 4752 (alive) cases are identified people with Human Immunodeficiency virus and acquired immune deficiency syndrome in Himachal Pradesh, figuring as a low prevalence state in the country.
In charge of State Red Cross Welfare unit Dr Sadhana Thakur disclosed while addressing a month long campaign on AIDS day Wednesday said that till Oct 30, 2021 as many as 4752 peoples who are alive and having Antiretroviral Therapy in the state.
Kangra district recorded 1249 cases till end of Oct, Hamirpur-958, Mandi-588,Una-554, Bilaspur 413, Shimla 253, Solan 223, Kullu-171, Chamba 127,Sirmaur 62, Kinjuar 20 and Lahaul Spiti five and of other state (non-HP) 129 cases. The annual death due to HIV is about 70 in the state compared to 58000 in the country.

So far estimated 7045 persons including 204 children were identified in the state affected with HIV and AIDS. 
The state Aids Control Society which is working to traced, identified, rehabilitations and treatment of HIV patients claimed that it is tracing around 163 new cases in the state through various network of testing labs etc and 70 patients are succumbing out this disease. 
The National Aids Control Program found the total estimated 23.48 lakh people including 79000 children people with HIV infections so far. The NACP figures revealed that as many as 69000 new cases are being traced with HIV in the country.
The Prevalence of injecting drug use  are about 1.06 per cent most of in Una District Female sex workers 0.08 pc, MSM Prevalence 0.82 pc and prison inmate 0.80 pc.
On the national level this figures is 6.26 pc, 1.56 pc, 2.69 pc and 2.10 pc, she added,
The state figured among low prevalence in the country improved  ranking of HIV cases from 27th place to 35 now. The state has a strong network of components for Surveillance,  tracing, prevention and treatment rehabilitation of HIV people.
