409 major roads & National Highway 5 still affected by snow & avalanches in Himachal

Despite mainly clear weather as many as 409 major roads and five National Highway are still affected by snow and avalanches in Himachal Pradesh.

A report received from the State Government confirms that as many as 409 major roads and five National highways are still snowbound however the state witnessed mainly dry and sunny weather in the state.

Lahaul Spiti district is almost disconnected from the rest of the world as National Highway 505 and 03 am and 287 roads are snowbound and many are affected by avalanches. The Spiti subdivision is almost disconnected and 17 tourists including 6 Italian nationals are stranded as 156 roads are snowbound. 83 and 48 roads in Lahaul and Udaipur are also disrupted. 

39 roads of Kinnaur district including 30 of Pooh subdivision and six of Kalpa and three of Nichar are snowbound. Due to shooting stones Old Hindustan Tibet National Highway no 5 is blocked at Nigulsari and Spillow.

Due to snow-affected roads, district administration Kinnaur airlifted injured patients from the Tribal district.

Today, 44-year-old Uday Singh of Tangling village of Kalpa tehsil was airlifted by the District Administration and District Disaster Management Authority Kinnaur with the help of the Indian Air Force due to a medical emergency. 

This information was given today by Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Dr. Given by Amit Kumar Sharma.

Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur said that due to some reason Uday Singh was injured and after first aid at Regional Hospital Reckong Peo, he was referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. 

He said that due to National Highway-05 being blocked near Nigulsari and to provide prompt treatment to the injured person, emergency medical evacuation was done through an Indian Air Force helicopter.

In Chamba district, 31 roads are snowbound including 20 of Pangi and nine of the Bharmour subdivision. 25 roads in Shimla and 24 in Kullu district are reported closed. 

629 power supply and 30 water supply schemes are affected in the state and could not be restored till Wednesday.

Minimum temperatures improved by a couple of degrees in the state as Kukamseri in Lahaul Spiti was minus 7.7, Kalpa in Kinnaur minus 6.5, Narkanda 0.7, Kufri three, Shimla and Solan four, Manali and Dalhousie five, Airport Jubberhati and Bhuntar Mandi, Kangra and Chamba six degrees each and Bilaspur seven degrees respectively.
