23 Medicines, including cancer and heart drugs, fail quality standards
In Himachal Pradesh, 23 medicines, including treatments for severe ailments like heart attacks, diabetes, and cancer, have been found to fail regulatory quality standards. Nationwide, a total of 67 drug samples did not meet compliance. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and the State Drug Controller collected these samples for analysis. Out of 49 samples tested by CDSCO, 20 were deemed non-compliant, while 3 out of 18 samples from the Drug Controller also failed.
Among the non-compliant drugs, 12 originated from Solan, 10 from Sirmaur, and one from Kangra. In response, the Drug Controller has issued notices to the manufacturers, revoked their production licenses, and directed them to recall the non-compliant stocks. Medicines from Several Companies Fail Quality Tests
Several companies’ drugs failed to meet standards, including oxytocin from Sirmaur-based Pushkar Pharma for childbirth, a calcium gluconate heart medication from Martin and Brown in Baddi, ceftriaxone for pneumonia, and gentamicin from G Laboratory in Paonta Sahib. Blood sugar medication from Genericart was also found lacking.
Additional non-compliant samples included nimesulide from Innovo Captep in Jharmajri, Ciprovin from Celebrity Biotech, and two samples of Motosep from Ariso Pharmaceutical in Makhoon Majra. Promethazine from Nitin Life Sciences in Kala Amb, ifosfamide for cancer from Quality Pharmaceuticals, Bupron SR from Digital Vision in Kala Amb, and cefoperazone and piperacillin from Baddi did not meet standards.
Other failed samples included Scyser Remedies’ Neuropine (Vitamin-B), Torsemi for blood pressure from JM Lab in Solan, Neurochem for diabetes from Klusta Pharmaceutical in Baddi, Indclave, an antibiotic from Vedspar Pharmaceutical in Jharmajri, and Stay Happy Trypsin, a pain reliever from Trivision Health Care in Baddi.
