Preeti Maske created Guinness World Record for being the 1st women to cycle from Leh-Manali in 55 hours
Pune based Cyclist Preeti Maske (45 years old), a mother of two created Guinness World Record record ti become the 1st women to solo cycle from Leh-Manali in 55 hours 13 minutes. This 430 kms treacherous route was very tough with 8,000 meters elevation gain. Guinness World Record had given her a window of 60 hours to complete this challenge.
Managing sleep deprivation in a continuous non-stop ride in high altitude was a challenge. “Twice I had to take oxygen enroute due to breathlessness at high passes”, said Preeti.
Preeti Maske, was flagged off by Border Roads Organization (BRO) from Leh at 6:00 am on 22.06.22 by Brig. Gaurav Karki, Chief Engineer at Leh.
At Manali she finished the ride at 1:13 pm on 24.6.22 in the presence of Col. Shabarish Vachali, Commander, BRO.

This is at 3600 meters (above sea level) high altitude, impossible attempted by the 1st women cyclist. The 45 year old Preeti, a mother of two already holds several records in long distance cycling.
Like BRO’s motto of finding a way in the border mountains or creating one, I too feel the women in India should break their shell & take up an outdoor activity. Adding more, Preeti said,”to overcome illness, I started cycling at the age of 40 about 5 years back, if I can overcome my fears, then I any woman can.”
Talking to this reporter , Meera Velankar, WUCA (World Ultra Cycling Association) Official said, “Preeti had to cycle in harsh varying climate on all the high altitude passes fighting the sun, strong head winds, snowfall & freezing temperatures”.
BRO which look after the streatgic Manali Leh road provided logistics sports from outside by keeping watch on her to ensure that she didn’t fall in trouble to complete the impossible tasks in life threatening journey .
