Mandi’s Priyanka Thakur Steals the Crown: Wins Hearts & Title at Shimla Winter Carnival

The crisp winter air at Shimla’s historic Ridge Ground was electric with excitement as the grand finale of the Winter Carnival 2025 unfolded. Amid a vibrant celebration of Himachal’s spirit, it was the poised and inspiring Dr Priyanka Thakur from Mandi who emerged as the radiant Miss Winter Queen 2025.

The finale, drawing a lively crowd of locals and visitors alike, was more than just a competition—it was a showcase of confidence and dreams. Contestants from across the state took the stage, culminating in a thoughtful question-and-answer round. Priyanka’s graceful composure and insightful responses resonated deeply with the judges, securing her the coveted crown.

Joining her in honour were Kanishka Chauhan from Sirmaur as first runner-up and Neha Thakur from Chopal as second runner-up. The journey to the top five included a stunning ramp walk, with actor Vikram Mehta encouraging finalists by gifting gold coins—a gesture of warmth that set the tone for the evening.

Beyond the top three, the circle of excellence included Ishita Sood of Shimla and Launya Verma of Mandi, who shone brightly among the final five. Priyanka was adorned with a crown, sash, and a shimmering silver ring, while the runners-up also received beautiful tokens sponsored by a local jeweller.

In a heartfelt moment after her win, the 23-year-old Priyanka—a final-year BDS student—shared her joy and dreams. “I plan to pursue higher studies in dentistry,” she said, speaking warmly of her family: her father, Hemant Thakur, a civil engineer, and her mother, Kamla Devi, a homemaker. But her vision extends beyond her profession. She hopes to champion social causes and inspire young people, showing that one can balance academia with the world of modelling.

This isn’t Priyanka’s first step into the spotlight—she previously earned the Miss Humanity title at the Miss North India pageant, a testament to her grace and compassion. Her victory in Shimla isn’t just about a title won; it’s the beginning of a journey she hopes will motivate many to pursue their passions with purpose and heart.
