Literature very much part of Cinema since the era of silent movie : Gulzar

The Screen play are very much part of Literature Indian since the era of silent movie as actions and motions were promote audience to shout in the film theatre to fills up the space and demand of Literature. This was Indian poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter, and film director Gulzar who was participating in the panel discussion on the theme of Literature and Cinema in the International Literature Festival being held at Viceroy hall in historic Gaiety theatre on Thursday. Begining  the session Mr Gulzar said that Cinema was not taken seriously as part of Literature but Cinema having two hundreds of films journey infront of 2000yrs of Indian Literature seems to be youngs. He said that screen play writers should adopt for change with revolution in the technology as with every passing moment Cinema is becoming part of Literature of history to continue its journey though it is young. He said journey of Literature is too old but Cinema is too young what my grandson culd do with sense of ease I couldn’t . When my mobile and gadgets got snaged or couldn’t operate it i request my grandson for assistance same is true with Cinema, It reach where Literature could not or vice versa. Indian Urdu lyrist said that today Cinema have achieved great accomplishment but Cinema is very much part of Literature or Literature is very much part of Cinema. The Gulzar patted the organisers to include session of discussion on Cinema as part of this Lit Festival stating that Cinema was not recognised as part of Literature however it gave number Literary writers to Indian literature.  

The role of cinema as very much part of Literature today now  helping the common man to understand Literature without reading the written test. The acess of Literature without having understanding of written launguage today available to large numbers of audiences who could watch the Cinema on screen, TV and on the mobile phone. Replying to a query in the session Mr. Gulzar differented Valmiki and Tulsi Ramayana stating that forrmer couldn’t reached out to the common man due to monopoly of Brahman as it was written in the Sanskrit moreover latter succeed to have access to common man in the Indian continanent as it was written in the language of common man. He said that same Sanskrit Ramayan was written in Tamil and Malalyum also reach to common man. Gulzar said that Cinema is similarly helping the literature to reach out to common man who may read or not with help of every medium be it is big and small screen. He said element of Literature are followed by the screen play writers and it followed Aristotle while creating the films but now Cinema has reached at a stage experiment new technologies which may not be in sync with Literature as well. He said that Cinema is not only consider as part of Literature but it have nuisances of fine arts and number of Art movie was successful produce in 200 hundreds years of cinema journey. He said that it is true today  that number of film director some time could not do justice with the screen play writers as demands of arts. He said that novel Angoor was written as screen play but it was rejected by the director but it was very much part of Literature and Gulzar said that it was latter published as fiction on his behaste.

Responding to the increasing trend of thriller movie if it is part of Literature Gulzar said that film like Acid and Kashmir today included in the Cinema despite it may not be qualified as Literature as new generation want to experience the truma of such tragic imagination through Cinema and screen play writers couldn’t deprived the audience which wanted to go through the horror story.
