Khilonewala – A Toy Library, Opens in Shimla
A unique initiative of its kind in North India
Khilonewala – Toy Library was launched on 11 April 2026 in Sanjauli, Shimla.
On this occasion, an exhibition of toys, games, and books for children aged 1 to 12 years was also organized on 11th and 12th April.
‘Khilonewala’ is a social initiative Mission aimed at steering children away from excessive use of screens such as mobile phones, TVs, and computers in today’s digital age, while inspiring them to learn through play. Through this library, age-appropriate toys, educational games, and books are being made available for the holistic development of children, fostering their creativity, imagination, and social skills.
This initiative has been started by a group of social workers, with Dr. Reena Singh (Retired Principal) playing a key role. The program was inaugurated by Raghavendra Singh (Raghu Dada) on the occasion of his second birthday, and he has also been made the Brand Ambassador of this initiative.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from parents, children, and intellectuals from local areas including Sangti, Sanjauli, Malyana, Chamyana, as well as surrounding regions.
