Gumshuda new book launched by Rekha Vashisht

In the backdrop of the enthusiasm amongst the literateurs about the historic International Booker Prize to Geetanjali Shree’s Hindi novel ‘Ret Samadhi’ (translated, Tomb of Sand by Daisy Rockwell) several well known writers, academicians, and literature lovers got together in Shimla today to celebrate the launch of ‘Gumshuda’, the latest book by Himachal Pradesh’s celebrated writer Dr. Rekha Vashisht. The book was launched on 28th May by Sh. Rakesh Kanwar (I.A.S.), Secretary, Language, Art and Culture, G.o.HP. at the historic Gaiety Theatre on Saturday afternoon. He said that Gumshuda is a collection of very simple, lucid stories about finding one-self. He called upon all literature lovers to come together and promote literary activities in the state. Mr. Kanwar impressed upon the need to associate school and college students in such activities. Sh. Pankaj Lalit, Director, Language, art and Culture was the Guest of Honour for the event. Ghumshuda is an anthology of eight short stories in Hindi. Dr Rekha Vashisht is a known poet and short story writer of critical national acclaim from Himachal Pradesh. She has one short story and three poetry anthologies to her credit and has been honoured with several state awards for her literary creations, including Chandra Dhar Guleri Samman and Himachal Sahitya Academy Award. This is her fifth book of creative writing. Dr Rekha Vashisht is a retired college principal and has taught literature in various colleges across the state.  The book release was followed by discussion and interactive sessions by eminent writers and academicians, including Prof. Meenakshi F. Paul, Dr. Vidhyanidhi Chabra, Prof. Prem Singh, Mr. Rajkumar Rakesh, Mr. Atma Ranjan, Dr. Devkanya, Dr. Harsh Vardhan Khimta, Mr. Sri Niwas Joshi, and Mr. Adhiraj Bisht.
