86 & 107 industrial units figure in Red and Orange pollution category in Himachal
Central Pollution Control Board new guidelines to categorize the pollution score of industrial, institutions and commercial entities figured as many as 86 industries in alarming Red category and 107 others are figures in Orange pollution score.
Issuing a office order Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control board here today Member Secretary of HPSPCB Mr Apoorv Devgan said that 86 nos. of industrial units were categorized in Red, 107 in Orange, 69 in Green and 137 in White categories as per the revised criteria and guidelines of CPCB of 2016 based on the pollution potential.
Washing of Contaminated Hazardous waste containers, industrial units would be in the Red category( at S. no
87). Among Orange category screening Plants for aggregate or sand with DG set would be at ( Sn 108) , Micro Brewery
at (SNo 109) Herbal Extract or Essential Oil Extraction at (S No 1100 and Screening Plant for Aggregate or sand without DG set and of Washing at( S. No 111 )
In Green Category Educational Institutions ( Residential or Boarding facility above 60 residents capacity facility shall be provided with STP at (S No 70), Non- Woven industries ( S No 71), Grading and Packing (S No 72) Grit Stone or Pulverize ( S No 73) Water Treatment plant ( purification at S No 74) Corrugated Boxes with Boiler and Flex Printing (75) Waste paper to Pulp unit (76) Restaurant with seating capacity more than 36 ( S No 77) , Cinema Halls with DG set ( S No 78) and Stand Alone Hostel ( S No 79) .
The order said that a list of industrial units and sectors classified in Red, Orange and Green category are required to obtain consent to establish and consent to operate from the State Board under Water(Prevention and Control of Pollution Act 1974and Air(Prevention Control Pollution) Act 1981.
The 137 industries or sectors who are classified in the White categories under the notification issued on Feb 24 , 2921 shall have to obtain consent purview as per water (prevention and control of Pollution) Act 1974 if total manpower employed equal to or exceeds 20 persons.
Board is conducting the pollution audit all the left out industrial units on the basis, air and water pollution as the pollution score 60 and above is considered in Red categories, 40 to 59 score in Orange, 20 to 30 in Green and less than 20 in white categories.
