Love in Every Bite: Himachal Farmer Grows Heart-Shaped Apples with a Personal Touch

Move over, regular apples! A progressive farmer from Himachal Pradesh has added a dash of romance and creativity to the humble fruit, crafting heart-shaped apples with sweet messages like “Love” engraved on them. These aren’t just apples—they’re edible love letters!

A Fruitful Experiment with a Touch of Magic

Sanjeev Chauhan, a horticulturist from Kotkhai in Shimla, has pioneered India’s first-ever “modular apples”—custom-shaped fruits that carry personalized designs. Inspired by a technique imported from China, Chauhan uses special molds placed on young apples. As they grow, they take the shape of hearts, stars, or even words, turning into picture-perfect, Instagram-worthy fruits in just 2-3 months.

“When I first tried this, many doubted it would work in Shimla’s climate,” says Chauhan. “But seeing the apples grow into these beautiful shapes has been incredibly rewarding.”

The Perfect Gift—Straight from Nature

These apples aren’t just pretty—they’re also highly sought after, especially by couples. A heart-shaped apple with “Love” etched on it sells for ₹500 to ₹1,000, making it a unique (and delicious) alternative to chocolates and flowers. Unsurprisingly, demand skyrockets around Valentine’s Day, with lovebirds gifting them as sweet, organic tokens of affection.

“Young couples adore them,” says a local vendor. “It’s like nature’s way of saying ‘I love you’!”

What’s Next? Divine Pears & Cultural Creations!

Chauhan isn’t stopping at apples—he’s already planning to experiment with pears next. But his vision goes beyond romance. He wants to carve Lord Shiva, Buddha, and other cultural symbols onto fruits, making them ideal for religious offerings and festivals.

“Why should gifts be limited to cards and sweets?” he asks. “A fruit can carry blessings, love, and art—all in one bite!”

A Sweet Success Story

From skeptical whispers to sweet success, Chauhan’s journey proves that a little innovation can turn even the simplest fruit into something extraordinary. And who knows? Soon, you might just find yourself gifting a pear with a sacred symbol or an apple that says “Happy Birthday”—nature’s way of making every occasion special.
