Entrepreneurs of Ladakh being trained in CSIR-IHBT

CSIR-IHBT has organized a three-day training program on “Food processing and Value addition of Agri-Horti produces” from 25 th to 27 th August 2022 to the entrepreneurs from Union Territory of Ladakh. The training program is sponsored by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Ladakh administration in association with CSIR-IHBT. The program would provide hands-on training on various aspects of food processing such as dehydration, value added products preparation, food labelling and packaging and good manufacturing practices. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Director, CSIR-IHBT inaugurated the program and addressed the entrepreneurs and officials from Department of Industries and Commerce. He emphasized on the need for value addition of agri- and horticulture produce and role of science and technology in enhancing the farmer’s income and popularizing traditional foods and crops of Ladakh. Sh. Mohammed Nazir Sheikh, Director, Industries and Commerce, Ladakh also participated in the program and emphasized on the importance of such training programs for upskilling the entrepreneurs in the area of food processing. During this training program, the entrepreneurs from Ladakh will also visit various industries and food processing facilities of CSIR-IHBT’s technology partners.
