Una Bulk Drug Park Expansion Paves Way for Integrated Industrial Township
The Himachal Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards strengthening the upcoming Bulk Drug Park in Una by initiating the acquisition of nearly 98,700 square metres of additional land. The move is aimed at improving connectivity, supporting future infrastructure needs and creating a well-planned industrial ecosystem.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has issued a notification under the state’s land acquisition rules for land located across several revenue villages, including Jodian Kuthar Beet, Pubbowal, Kuthar Beet, Panjuwana, Jodian Pubbowal-I and Roda Baliwal.
Beyond Industry: Building a Complete Township
The additional land will primarily be used to connect the industrial and institutional zones of the Bulk Drug Park and facilitate the development of roads and other essential infrastructure. However, the government’s vision extends beyond manufacturing facilities.
Officials are working towards developing the area as a modern industrial township, complete with residential and civic amenities for scientists, engineers, company executives and employees expected to be associated with pharmaceutical units in the park.
Learning from Baddi’s Growth Challenges
Spread across nearly 1,405 acres, the Bulk Drug Park is being designed to avoid the infrastructure pressures seen in older industrial hubs such as Baddi, where industrial growth often outpaced the development of housing and civic facilities.
The proposed township is expected to include schools, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, banking services, recreational spaces, public transport systems and quality residential infrastructure, ensuring balanced and sustainable growth.
Major Investment and Employment Potential
The Bulk Drug Park is envisioned as a game-changer for Himachal Pradesh’s pharmaceutical sector. Government estimates suggest the project could attract investments worth ₹8,000-10,000 crore and generate between 15,000 and 20,000 jobs.
With the latest land acquisition initiative, the state is moving closer to creating a fully integrated industrial, residential and social ecosystem that could transform Una into a major pharmaceutical manufacturing hub in northern India.
