Officials and a large number of party workers staged a protest outside the State Election Commission office against the Central Chief Election Commissioner and burnt his effigy.
In this protest demonstration, All India Congress Committee’s state affairs in-charge Rajni Patil, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Animal Husbandry Minister Chaudhary Chandra Kumar, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, former MP Pratibha Singh, All India Congress Committee Secretary and co-in-charge of state affairs Chetan Chauhan, Vidit Chaudhary, Raghuveer Bali, State Organization General Secretary Vinod Zinta, PCC,
District Block, officials of leading organizations and departments,
Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor, councillors and hundreds of party workers raised slogans against the Central Election Commission and demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyaneshwar Kumar from his post.
State Affairs in-charge Rajni Patil said during this meeting that the Central Chief Election Commissioner has usurped the rights of the country’s voters and he can never be forgiven for this. She said that Rahul Gandhi was already calling the SIR flawed, and now two Election Commissioners have confirmed this in their letter. She said that the Chief Election Commissioner has shattered the credibility of the Election Commission, and therefore he no longer has any moral right to remain in this position. She said that Congress will launch a nationwide movement to remove the Chief Election Commissioner from his post.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri criticized the Chief Election Commissioner’s actions, saying that he had deprived over 130 million voters of their rights at the behest of the BJP. He said that for the first time in the country, the Election Commission’s impartiality has been questioned, and instead of the Election Commission, the BJP is busy defending the Election Commission. He said that Congress will no longer sit idly by. Congress will launch a mass movement against the BJP, which is stealing public opinion in a democracy.
State Congress President Vinay Kumar stated that the state Congress will publicly expose the malpractices of the Central Election Commission. He stated that the BJP’s vote theft and the Election Commission’s collusion have now been exposed. He stated that the Chief Election Commissioner has tarnished the Election Commission’s credibility, and for this reason, he can never be forgiven.
Vinay Kumar said that in all the districts and blocks of the state, Congress will organize street corner meetings against the vote theft by BJP and will make people aware about their voting rights.
