Animal Husbandry Dept successfully operated eye of a cow in Juggar

 In Ward Juggar of Satlai Gram Panchayat of Junga Tehsil, a team of specialist doctors from the Animal Husbandry Department performed a successful eye surgery on an 11-year-old Jersey cow, giving the mute cow a new lease on life. Furthermore, the team also successfully operated on a calf’s broken leg in Bharandi village, inserting a rod and enabling it to walk again.
Sushil Kumar, a resident of Juggar, said that his 11-year-old Jersey cow had been suffering from redness and other problems in one eye for the past three years. The cow, which produces approximately 12 kilograms of milk per day, is an important source of additional income for the family.
He explained that over the past four months, an abnormal growth of flesh had begun outside the cow’s eye, causing the cow to lose her vision. He contacted Dr. Jaipal Basta of the Animal Husbandry Department in Koti. An examination confirmed a condition called squamous cell carcinoma in the cow’s eye.
Considering the seriousness of the case, Dr. Jaipal Basta specially called Dr. Akshay Kumar, surgeon and veterinary ophthalmologist from Polyclinic Rampur, to Juggar. The doctors, along with a team from Koti Hospital, arrived at the scene and, after nearly three hours of hard work, successfully operated on the cow’s eye.
The team then went to the home of Hira Singh, a resident of Bharandi village, and operated on a calf’s broken leg at night using torchlight. Hira Singh explained that the calf’s leg was completely broken, but the Animal Husbandry Department team performed treatment on the spot and inserted a rod in the leg. After the treatment, the calf is now slowly able to walk.
Sushil Kumar and Hira Singh expressed their gratitude to the team from the Animal Husbandry Department, Koti, saying that the doctors, by going door to door and treating the two mute animals, set an example of humanity and animal service. Animal Husbandry Assistant Gyan Heta and Nurse Sunaina Thakur were also involved in this treatment campaign.
