Lions Club Shimla Organises Tree Plantation Camp at Baldeyan

During the camp, 100 saplings of different plants pine and oak were planted in and around the area near the school. A total of 13 Lion members, along with local residents, participated enthusiastically in the plantation programme. The participants planted the saplings and also highlighted the need for their proper care and protection so that they can grow into healthy trees.

Speaking on the occasion, the President Lion O. P.Mehta of Lions Club Shimla emphasised that tree plantation is not merely a one-day activity but a continuing responsibility towards the environment and future generations. He stressed the importance of involving local communities, particularly young people and students, in environmental initiatives to create greater awareness about the need to preserve forests and maintain ecological balance.

The plantation drive also provided an opportunity for the Lions members to interact with local residents and encourage them to take an active role in protecting the newly planted saplings. The participants expressed their commitment to ensuring that the planted saplings are looked after and nurtured.

Area Leader Lion Man Mohan Verma of Lions International District said that for Green Environment Planting a tree is a physical act of hope. It heals the earth, cleans the air, and leaves a living gift for future “Plant Trees, Protect Nature initiative brought together Lions members to plant trees, demonstrating our shared commitment to Environmental Conservation. Together, we plant today for a better tomorrow.

Prominent among those who participated in the plantation camp were Lion O. P. Mehta, President; Lion Manmohan Verma Area Leader; Lion Anil Sood; Lion Dr. Daleep Sharma, Secretary; Lion Dr. Rajesh Chanana; Lion Prof. C. B. Mehta; Lion Sanjeev Khanna, Joint Secretary; Lion M. K. Sharma; Lion Prof. K. C. Sharma; Lion Gopal Krishan Vaid Zone Chairperson, Lion Sushil Kumar Sood along with other Lions members and local residents.

The Lions Club Shimla has reiterated its commitment to undertaking activities aimed at environmental protection, community welfare and social service. The successful plantation camp at Baldeyan was described as a meaningful step towards creating a greener and healthier environment in the Shimla region.
