Seminar on Drug De-addiction Campaign at H.P. University on International Youth Day

On the occasion of International Youth Day, a special interactive program on the topic “Peer Guidance as Friends and Spreading Scientific Temperance” was organized in the auditorium of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, under the joint aegis of Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti (HGVS) and Dean Students Welfare (DSW), Himachal Pradesh University. The program aimed to develop a scientific temper among the youth and to make them aware and motivated to stay away from social evils like drug addiction.
Himachal Pradesh University Vice Chancellor Prof. Mahavir Singh attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, he stated that youth are the greatest strength of the nation and society. To protect youth from drug addiction, it is not enough to simply preach, but rather to establish constant dialogue with them and engage them in positive activities, scientific thinking, and creative work.
Speakers noted that the problem of drug addiction is emerging as a serious challenge for youth today. In such a situation, cultivating positive “peer mentors” among young people can be a highly effective initiative. Youth can communicate more easily with their peers and inspire them to stay away from drugs, adopt a scientific mindset, and set positive goals in life.
Many young speakers including famous mountaineer Amit Negi, famous Pahadi singer Kapil Sharma, Advocate Hardeep Roshta and Suryansh, Director of The White Truth Web Series, shared their views at the event.
On this occasion, National General Secretary of Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti Dr. O.P. Bhureta, Dean of Studies Prof. B.K. Shivram, Dean Students Welfare Dr. R.L. Jinta, Prof. Harimohan, State President of Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti 83-year-old Prof. T.D. Verma, State Secretary Satyawan Pundir, Vice President Sumitra Chandel, Founder President Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar, Retired Psychologist Dr. Ravi Bhushan, Retired Teacher Robin Sinha, Shimla Urban Secretary Ankit Dubey, Former Head of Koti Panchayat and 84-year-old Retired Teacher Hiranand Shandil, Youth Coordinator and Pahari Artist Kapil Sharma along with University Department Heads, Teachers, Research Scholars and a large number of students were present.
