Nauni University launches PG Diploma in Yoga Science, Apiculture and Apitherapy
Expanding its academic programmes, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni has launched new post graduate diploma programmes in Yoga Science and Apiculture and Apitherapy. The university has invited applications for admissions to these for the academic session 2026-27. Both programmes are of one-year duration comprising two semesters and are designed to provide specialized knowledge, practical training and entrepreneurship opportunities in emerging fields.
The Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Science, offered by the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, aims to develop trained yoga professionals equipped with scientific knowledge of yoga, wellness and therapeutic applications. This diploma has been designed to provide a scientific and holistic understanding of yoga as a discipline for health, wellness and therapeutic applications. The programme blends the ancient wisdom of yoga with modern scientific principles. Emphasis will be laid on developing skilled yoga professionals capable of promoting preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles and overall well-being through evidence-based yoga practices. The curriculum also includes extensive practical sessions and field work, preparing graduates for careers in wellness centres, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, corporate wellness programmes and independent practice. The programme has an intake capacity of 30 seats.
The PG Diploma in Apiculture and Apitherapy, offered by the Department of Entomology, focuses on scientific beekeeping, apitherapy, value addition, managed pollination and entrepreneurship. It is a unique skill-oriented programme that aims to produce trained professionals in scientific beekeeping, bee product technology and apitherapy. The course offers comprehensive training in honey bee biology, apiary management, queen rearing, bee health, pollination services, migratory beekeeping, processing and value addition of bee products, quality assurance and enterprise management. The programme has an intake capacity of 25 seats.
Candidates possessing a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 50 percent marks (45 percent for SC/ST candidates) are eligible to apply. Admissions will be made purely on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, and no entrance test will be conducted. The last date for submission of applications is August 16, 2026. Merit-based counselling will be held on August 24, 2026.. Classes for both programmes will commence from August 28, 2026.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Harminder Singh Baweja said that the University is committed to introducing skill-oriented academic programmes that respond to contemporary societal and industry needs. He said the diploma programmes have been designed to create professionally trained manpower while encouraging entrepreneurship, self-employment and sustainable livelihoods. The programmes combine classroom teaching with practical exposure, enabling students to acquire industry-relevant skills and contribute meaningfully to the health, wellness and apiculture sectors.
