Truck Cabin Used to Smuggle Poppy Husk; Two Rajgarh Youths Held
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Rajgarh police seized 11 kg 720 grams of poppy husk from a truck. Police have arrested two youths and initiated further action under the NDPS Act.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sirmaur, N.S. Negi, said that the Detection Cell team of Sub-Division Rajgarh was patrolling the area and collecting intelligence under the Narcotics Act. Meanwhile, the police received information from an informant that two men were coming from Solan to Giripul with a consignment of poppy husk in truck number HP07F0867.
Upon receiving the information, the police team blocked the Maryog main road and stopped the truck. During the investigation, the truck driver identified himself as Ajay Kumar (40), a resident of Kot Dhangar village, Rajgarh tehsil, and the driver identified himself as Prem Singh (42), a resident of Ward No. 2, Rajgarh, Sirmaur district.
Upon searching the truck, police recovered 23 polythene bags from the undercarriage of the truck, inside the recesses of the mats beneath the cabin, and from secret compartments in the cabin’s side locks. These bags contained a total of 11.720 kilograms of poppy husk.
He said that the police have registered a case against both the accused under sections 15 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Pachhad police station and have started further investigation.
