Rajgarh Gears Up for Vibrant Baisakhi Celebrations
The famous and traditional district-level Shirgul Devta Baisakhi Fair of Sirmaur district will be held with great enthusiasm at Nehru Ground in Rajgarh from April 14 to 16. This information was given by SDM Rajgarh and Fair Committee Chairman Rajkumar Thakur while presiding over a meeting on Thursday regarding the preparations for the fair.
He said that efforts will be made to give the fair a better look this year as well, like in previous years. It is noteworthy that this fair has traditionally been organized in Rajgarh every year on the occasion of Baisakh Sankranti in the name of Shirgul, the presiding deity of the area. The SDM informed that on April 14, on the day of Baisakh Sankranti, as per tradition, worship will be performed at the Shirgul Devta temple in Rajgarh. After this, a grand procession of the deity’s palanquin will be taken out in the fair, in which hundreds of devotees will participate.
He stated that cultural evenings will be held on all three days of the fair. A large wrestling competition will be held on the final day, featuring renowned wrestlers from North India. He added that the cultural evening on April 14th will be dedicated to artists from the Rajgarh region, while local artists will be given opportunities on all three evenings.
Swings will be installed for the entertainment of the spectators and a souvenir will also be published. For the smooth conduct of the fair, the concerned officials have been instructed to make adequate arrangements for all necessary arrangements including law and order, electricity, and water. Furthermore, various sub-committees are being formed to ensure the success of the event. The SDM stated that adequate funds are necessary for the excellent organization of the fair and requested generous support from all committee members. Present at the meeting were Tehsildar Rajendra Sharma, Deputy Tehsildar Sushant Sharma, former Chairman of the Municipality Jyoti Sahni, Shirgul Temple Committee Chairman Arun Chauhan, Chamber of Commerce Chairman Hariom Kheda, Vivek Sharma, Randhir Panwar, Youth Congress President Vikram Thakur, Anuj Thakur, other committee members, and representatives from various departments.
