Himachal Congress to Brief High Command on Revenue Deficit Grant Crisis

State Congress President Vinay Kumar has announced that an important meeting of the State Congress will be held with All India Congress Committee President Malikarjan Kharge in New Delhi on February 20. Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, the State Congress President himself, along with all members of the State Cabinet, State Affairs Incharge Rajni Patil, Co-Incharge Chetan Chauhan, and Vidit Chaudhary will also be present at the meeting.
Before leaving for New Delhi, State Congress President Vinay Kumar said here today that in this meeting, along with the latest politics of the state, many important issues related to the formation of the organization will be discussed.
Vinay Kumar said that in the meeting, the central high command will be apprised of the situation arising from the 16th Finance Commission’s decision to discontinue the state’s revenue deficit grant. He said that the central high command will also be apprised of the discrimination being done against the state by the BJP government at the Centre. He said that the state Congress, under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, will also seek time to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to protest against the decision to discontinue the revenue deficit grant.
Vinay Kumar said that the central high command will also be informed of the losses suffered by the state’s apple growers due to the recent trade agreement with the United States. He said that the central high command will also be fully informed of the ongoing movement in the state against the weakening of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
