Snow on the Horizon: Himachal’s Hills Gear Up for Wintry Showers on December 28

Himachal Pradesh’s higher reaches are set to welcome a spell of snow and rain on December 28, bringing a touch of winter magic to districts like Kullu, Kinnaur, Chamba, and Lahaul-Spiti. The State Meteorological Department has forecast light precipitation in these areas, while most other districts will continue to see dry weather.

Adding to the seasonal challenges, a yellow warning for dense fog has been issued for the Balh valley in Mandi and the Bhakra dam reservoir in Bilaspur, where early morning visibility is expected to remain poor until December 26.

  • Kukumseri (Lahaul-Spiti): coldest at -3.1°C minimum

While minimum temperatures are hovering 3°C to 6°C above normal, higher hills are seeing maximums dip slightly below average. The mix of chilly nights and mild days paints a classic winter picture across the state.
