Dharamsala Goes Digital: Dalai Lama Launches Tourist-Friendly Portal to Explore Kangra

Travelers heading to the scenic hills of Kangra, especially the popular destinations of Dharamsala and McLeodganj, now have a new digital companion to guide their journey. In a heartwarming gesture, His Holiness the Dalai Lama inaugurated VisitDharamsala.com, a comprehensive tourism portal developed by the Hotel and Restaurant Association, Dharamsala.

Speaking at the launch from his residence, the Dalai Lama extended his blessings and praised the initiative for its potential to enhance tourism and support visitors with reliable information at their fingertips.

Ashwani Bamba, president of the hotel association, shared that the portal is a one-stop destination for everything a traveler might need — from must-visit spots like Triund and Pong Dam to insights into Kangra’s rich cultural, historical, and spiritual heritage.

The website offers:

  • Detailed guides on local attractions, including Dal Lake, waterfalls, and revered temples
  • Cultural insights into Dharamsala’s traditions, cuisine, and attire
  • Hotel listings, from luxury stays to cozy retreats
  • Real-time weather updates and room booking options for a seamless travel experience

Bookings made through the portal are directly forwarded to the respective hotel operators, ensuring a smooth and transparent process for tourists.

“This platform is about more than just convenience — it’s about connection,” said Bamba. “We want visitors from across India and the world to feel informed, welcomed, and inspired by Kangra’s beauty.”

With this digital leap, Dharamsala is not only embracing modern tourism but also reaffirming its place as a soulful, accessible, and unforgettable destination.
