The department proudly installed a tap 2 years ago — not a single drop of water has graced it since

Nearly two years ago, the Jal Shakti Department installed a tap in the home of 72-year-old Bimla Devi in Shantakuti, a sub-village of Dharech Panchayat, but to date, not a drop of water has dripped from the tap. The family still has to carry water from Satswar, a distance of about one and a half kilometers, as before. The department has fulfilled the state government’s promise to install taps in every home, but has not provided water.
It’s worth noting that for the past three years, the Jal Jeevan Mission project has been implemented in the state, aiming to provide tap water to every household. Under this scheme, the department lays free pipes to beneficiaries’ homes, but the fact that Bimla Devi’s home hasn’t received water in two years suggests that the state government’s promises to provide water to every household are proving hollow.
Bimla Sharma said that she had appealed to the officials of the Jal Shakti Department several times but till date no solution to her problem has been found. When the department did not find any solution to her problem, she lodged her complaint on 1100 with the hope that her problem would be solved. The department had closed that file by giving a false report on 1100 also. She says that there are about eight houses in Shantakuti village, all of them have water supply, but till date not even a drop of water has dripped in her house. She says that everyone is getting water from the Tungesh Lift Water Supply Scheme, but instead of laying iron pipes for her house, plastic pipes were laid, but water has not come till date.
Sunil Bhikhta, Junior Engineer of Koti Sub Division of Jal Shakti Department, said that this problem will be resolved soon.
