Himachal’s Arnav Saini won bronze medal in the national level under-14 Taekwondo competition

The 69th National Taekwondo Competition for Under-14 Students concluded recently in Dimapur, Nagaland. Himachal Pradesh’s talented student athlete, Arnav Saini, created history by winning a bronze medal in the 25 kg weight category. It is worth noting that the Himachal School Sports Association participated in the national-level Taekwondo competition for the first time. In the Under-14 Taekwondo competition, the Himachal team performed exceptionally well. In the 25 kg weight category, Arnav Saini defeated a player from Punjab in the first round, a player from Bhopal in the second round, and a player from Nagaland in the third decisive match. Ten players from Himachal Pradesh participated in this national-level Taekwondo competition, led by Sukhdev Rana, a physical education teacher from the Junga region.
Sukhdev Rana said that for the first time, children under the age of 14 from the state have become part of the national level team. Expressing happiness, he said that for the first time, Himachal has made history by winning the bronze medal, which is a matter of pride for the entire Himachal Pradesh. Sukhdev Rana expressed his gratitude to Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Himachal Pradesh Sports Association and Education Director Ashish Kohli, with whose support, Himachal players became part of the National Taekwondo Games for the first time. He said that he was made the ‘Mission Chief’ of the Taekwondo team of Himachal Pradesh. While Physical Education Teacher Yograj played his role as the Chief Coach and Prem Chandra Sharma played his role as the Manager.
He told that all the members of the team were provided air travel facility by the government, due to which the children had a pleasant experience of air travel along with saving time.
