A Quick Splash of Rain & Snow for Himachal This Week

Get ready for a brief change in Himachal’s weather! If you’re in the plains, you can expect some light rain, while the high mountains are set to receive a fresh dusting of snow this Wednesday and Thursday (October 22 and 23).

According to the Meteorological Department, this will be a short-lived event. The skies are expected to clear up, leading to dry weather from October 24th through the 27th.

Heads Up for These Districts

A yellow alert is in effect for thunderstorms and lightning in six districts—Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur—on Wednesday. If you’re in Chamba, Kangra, or Sirmaur, keep an eye on the skies on Thursday as well, as the alert continues. Whether you’re a resident or a traveller, it’s a good idea to be prepared for sudden changes and plan your journeys accordingly.

The upcoming snow in the western Himalayas and increased cloud cover will likely make the mountain areas feel noticeably colder. This could impact daily routines and travel, especially at higher altitudes.

This shift comes after a spell of dry and relatively warm weather, where minimum temperatures were sitting 2-3 degrees above normal. Keylong was the coldest spot at 1°C, while Una felt the warmest at 33.4°C.
