Bhaiya Dooj fair will start in Peeran with the procession of deity Kawali
Cultural programs and Kariyala performances will be the center of attraction at the fair.
Shimla, October 19. The Junga region’s famous and traditional Bhai Dooj fair will be celebrated with great enthusiasm in Peeran on October 23. Fair committee head Attar Singh Thakur said that the fair will begin with a procession, or jatra, of the presiding deity, Kawali. Hundreds of people from the region will dance to the tune of musical instruments and reach the Thaur Mata temple, where people shower walnuts upon the fulfillment of their wishes. Prior to this, at the 22nd Tika Sthan (Jubbar), the Gurus of Deity Junga and Kawali will offer rice grains as permission to begin the fair.
Atar Singh Thakur said that artists from the Information and Public Relations Department’s Pravesh Nihalta and Party will perform during the day to entertain the crowd. At night, the traditional Kariyala performance will be staged, featuring artists from the Bijeshwar Folk Theatre Kariyala
