Junga’s traditional district-level Dussehra fair concludes with great pomp and show
The traditional district-level Dussehra fair of the Keonthal region concluded peacefully last evening in Junga. On the final day of the fair, wrestling and kabaddi competitions were the center of attraction. In wrestling, Rohit-1, a wrestler serving in the CRPF in Delhi, defeated Rohit from Haryana in the final to win the Badi Mali. The winner received a cash prize of 31,000 rupees and the runner-up 21,000 rupees. Similarly, Bir Singh of Maryog won the Choti Mali by defeating Sonu from Ghumarwin. The winner received a cash prize of 11,000 rupees and the runner-up 10,000 rupees. A total of eight teams participated in the Kabaddi competition, with Manpura-1 defeating Manpura-2 in the final to claim the trophy. The fair committee awarded 31,000 rupees to the winning team and 21,000 rupees to the runner-up. Madan Mohan Thakur, head of the Gram Panchayat Bhadech, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
Tehsildar Junga and Fair Officer Narayan Singh Verma said that Star Night was organized in the cultural evening of the fair in which famous folk singers of the state Hemmat Sharma, Varsha Thakur, Keshav Sharma, Rajendra Verma and Vijay Mokta made the audience dance by presenting one better than the other Pahari and film songs. ADM Shimla Pankaj Sharma participated as the chief guest in the cultural evening. Apart from this, local artists, Mahila Mandals and various school children entertained the people a lot during the day by presenting cultural programs.
On this occasion, Deputy Tehsildar Rajendra Thakur, General Secretary of Keonthal Cultural Committee Pankaj Sen, Local Head Bansi Lal Kashyap, Law Go Arvind Kumar, Superintendent Chet Singh Thakur, Patwari Suresh Thakur and other officials of the committee were present.
