Gyan Vigyan Samiti honored senior youth above 70 years of age – shared their experiences
The Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti took a unique initiative to celebrate Senior Citizens Day at the Zila Parishad building. The organization shared the experiences of nearly two dozen leadership members who are over the age of 70. They moderated the event, connecting senior youth with younger ones, and sought to convey a positive message to society.
In the program, the senior most member 89 years old NR Hiteshi, 86 years old RL Chauhan, 83 years old HN Shandil, 84 years old Prof. KS Dhir, 83 years old Prof. RK Pathania, 82 years old Prof. TD Verma, 78 years old Urmil Thakur along with Vishwanath Sharma, Ganesh Datt Sharma, former head Dhongu Ram, Hariram Shastri, Madan Mohan Atri, PC Kashyap, Kali Ram, Mohan Lal along with retired psychologist Dr. Ravi Bhushan and retired Himachal Administrative Officer Ravindra Sharma etc. were honored and they shared their thoughts dedicated to the organization.
The state secretary of the Samiti, Satyawan Pundir, described such senior youth, who were associated with the foundation of the organization and serve as social capital, as the pride of the organization. Pundir said that hundreds of such senior youth are still the inspiration of the Jan Vigyan Andolan. Starting from the national level, Dr. M.P. Parameswaran, the pioneer of the Jan Vigyan Andolan and former nuclear scientist and the founding secretary of Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, despite crossing the age of 90, is still ready to give new and innovative ideas to strengthen and expand the movement. Prof. Sunder Lohia, the pioneer of the Jan Vigyan Andolan and literacy campaign in Himachal and former state president of Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti, is standing with mental strength even at the age of 91.
If we assume the age limit of senior youth to be 70, then there will be hundreds of such comrades who will be providing leadership and active contribution to the organization.
Nowadays, in view of the increasing problem of drug addiction among the youth in the state, the committee is running ‘Save Youth Campaign’ in which the important role of these senior and junior youth associated with the organization is coming to the fore.
