Fagu won in Kabaddi and Moolkoti won in women’s tug of war

The vibrant two-day Saiyar fair wrapped up with great enthusiasm last evening in the courtyard of Mata Bhadrakali Temple, nestled in Talai near Mashobra. The event drew thousands of visitors from surrounding villages, who came together to enjoy a rich blend of cultural performances, Kabaddi matches, and a spirited women’s tug-of-war competition.

A total of 26 Kabaddi teams competed fiercely, with Fagu clinching victory over Mashobra in the final match. In the women’s tug-of-war, Moolkoti Panchayat emerged as the champion, while Gumma Panchayat secured second place.

The fair was further enlivened by performances from renowned folk singers Jai Prakash Sharma, Bobby Thakur, and Navkriti Thakur, who captivated the audience with their soulful renditions of Pahari and Hindi songs. School children from Government Senior Secondary School Mashobra, Maya Public School, RPS Baldeniya, MES Mashobra, and Primary School Dhanen added color and charm with their delightful cultural presentations.

Abhishek Verma, Director of the Revenue Department, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He honored the winners of the competitions and appreciated the efforts of the performers and participating students. In his address, he emphasized that fairs are a living reflection of our ancient culture, and preserving these traditions is essential for passing on heritage to future generations.

Balak Ram Verma, President of the Fair Committee, welcomed the chief guest with a shawl, Himachali cap, and memento, and shared insights into the fair’s rich history.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Panchayat Samiti President Chandrakanta Verma. The stage proceedings were masterfully conducted by Nandlal Sharma, whose poetic flair kept the audience engaged throughout both days.
