A house and a cowshed were destroyed due to landslide in Jot village of Junga

Last night, a huge landslide hit a residential house in Jot village of Junga Tehsil, resulting in the tragic death of two members sleeping in it. According to Tehsildar Junga Narayan Singh Verma, three members of a family lived in this house, including Virendra (42), his wife Nirmala and daughter Divyanshi (6). On Sunday night at around 2 o’clock, the house was completely damaged due to thousands of tons of debris falling from the hill about 50 meters above the house. Virendra (42) and his daughter Divyanshi (6), who were sleeping in it, died a very tragic death, while Virendra’s wife Nirmala had gone out to the toilet, due to which she survived unscathed. A mountain of sorrows fell on Nirmala and she was left with neither a family nor a house to live in. The entire Baloog valley and the Magled ravine were echoing with her screams at night. Apart from this, a Jersey cow also died on the spot when the cowshed got buried along with the house.
Tehsildar Verma said that as soon as the information of the accident was received, SDRF, police, home guard, medical team, despite the roads being closed at many places, reached the spot in the morning after travelling about 15 km on foot and started relief and rescue work immediately. With the help of local people, the bodies of the father and daughter were taken out in a mutilated condition. Seeing this sad scene, tears were flowing from everyone’s eyes. The medical team conducted the post-mortem of Virendra and Divyanshi on the spot and their bodies were handed over to their relatives. Let us tell you that only one family lives in this sub-village. Virendra’s elder brother Ramakrishna’s family lives at a short distance from his house.
SDM Rural Manjeet Sharma reached the spot and provided immediate relief of Rs. 1 lakh to Virendra’s wife Nirmala. He said that in addition to this, assistance for building a house and compensation of Rs. 4 lakh each will be provided later.
In this relief work, DSP SDRF Gulshan Negi, SHO Dhali Virochan Negi, Company Commander Home Guard Dinesh Thakur, Forest Range Officer Sanjeev Mehta, Pradhan of local Balog Panchayat Om Prakash Sharma, Pradhan of Janedghat Swaroop Thakur, besides employees of the Revenue Department played an important role.
