Justice Sanjiv Khanna Joins HPNLU Shimla: A New Chapter of Wisdom and Inspiration Begins

In a moment of pride and celebration, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla welcomes Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Former Chief Justice of India, as its Distinguished Professor. His acceptance marks a significant milestone in the University’s journey toward academic excellence and thought leadership in legal education.

Justice Khanna’s connection with HPNLU is not new — he has previously served as the University’s Visitor, offering guidance and support with unwavering dedication. Now, as he steps into this new role, the entire HPNLU community is filled with gratitude and excitement.

Having retired from the Supreme Court of India on May 13, 2025, Justice Khanna leaves behind a legacy of judicial brilliance, administrative acumen, and a deep commitment to justice. Elevated to the apex court in January 2019, his career has been marked by landmark judgments and a reputation for integrity and fairness.

Now, with his vast experience and deep understanding of the law, Justice Khanna is set to inspire the next generation of legal minds at HPNLU.
