NHAI will pay the rent of the affected families living in rented houses : Suresh Kashyap
MP Suresh Kashyap visited the entire area affected by the four-lane road including residential houses damaged due to heavy landslide in Bhattakufar near Shimla and enquired about the well-being of the affected families. While talking to the people, he said that the matter will be taken up with the Government of India and the State for compensation and reimbursement of the families whose houses have been damaged due to the construction of the four-lane road.
After talking to Anand Deiya, Project Director of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), he said that the affected families living in rented houses will be paid rent by NHAI. Apart from this, all the cracks in the ground which have become dangerous for the houses will be filled by NHAI on a war footing. He assured the people that at all the points where concrete poles need to be installed, concrete poles will be installed by NHAI for the safety of the houses.
Suresh Kashyap expressed surprise and said that despite repeated requests of the people, the local MLA and the cabinet minister have never taken this problem seriously, otherwise people would not have to suffer this today. Taking the state government to task, he said that the state government has not yet made any proper arrangements for the rehabilitation of the affected families of Bhatthakoofar. Blaming the state government for this disaster, he said that if the state government had raised this problem of the people before the Ministry of Surface Transport of the Government of India, then some solution to this serious problem would have been found in time. He said that he will talk to the Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari about this problem in Delhi and will request him to take a concrete decision in this regard.
Former District Shimla BJP President Prem Thakur told the MP that last year the villagers had stopped the work of Gawar Company over this problem, on which the local MLA came on the spot and after giving assurance to the people, the Gawar Company started the work again. He said that instead of solving this issue, the local MLA is doing politics, which is unfortunate.
