Monsoon Magic Arrives in Himachal: Rainy Days Ahead, Caution Advised

The southwest monsoon has officially swept across Himachal Pradesh, bringing with it a refreshing spell of rain—and a few safety concerns. According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, the state is in for a wet week, with showers expected to continue through June 29.

From June 25 to 27, most regions will see light to moderate rainfall, but some districts could experience heavier downpours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for these days, signaling the potential for significant rain-related disruptions.

Yellow alerts are also in place for June 23, 24, 28, and 29, covering districts like Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur. Shimla and Solan are under yellow alert on select days as well.

Sunday brought cloudy skies and steady rain to Shimla and nearby areas, setting the tone for the days ahead. Authorities are closely monitoring landslide-prone zones and river catchments, especially in low-lying areas at risk of flash floods.

With the monsoon gaining momentum, officials are urging both residents and tourists to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and follow all safety advisories. Preparations are also underway for potential road blockages and power outages, particularly in remote regions.
