Prof. M. M. Goel honoured as Visiting Professor at Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla

Prof. Madan Mohan Goel, three-time Vice-Chancellor and superannuated Professor of Economics from Kurukshetra University, joined the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Rashtrapati Niwas Shimla as Visiting Professor today. As Visiting Professors are eminent scholars invited by the Institute to deliver three lectures and give seminars at the Institute, Prof Goel will speak on “Relevance of Gita-based Needonomics for Global Economy”, “Academic Leadership for Needo-governance in Institutional Management” and “Needo-education of Needonomics: A Pathway to Sustainability and Resilience in a Changing World” and are to be published by the Institute. During an in-residence stay of one month, Prof Goel will also interact informally with Fellows of the Institute.

Known as the Propounder of the Needonomics School of Thought, Prof. Goel brings with him 46 years of teaching and 17 years of administrative experience, having served in leadership roles at RGNIYD (an Institution of National Importance) Sriperumbudur, Jagannath University Jaipur, Starex University Gurugram and Veer Kunwar Singh University Ara (State University of Bihar).

He has been honored nationally and internationally, including the Ambassador for Peace title by the Universal Peace Federation and the LOSD Excellence Award 2023 in London. He was the first ICCR Chair Professor in South Korea and currently serves as Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Advanced Sciences, Dartmouth, USA.

Prof. Goel has 528 publications, guided 50 research scholars, and contributed to India’s academic policy-making, including the NEP Orientation Programme and the PMO-led Amrit Kaal Vimarsh. His research focuses on the Economics of Human Resource Development and Indian Economy. He is also known for his spiritual insights, expressed through over 700 blogs.

Under his patronage, the Global Centre for Needonomics is emerging as a platform for value-based economics.
