Jairam Thakur Demands Justice for Vimal Negi Amid Allegations of Corruption

Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has launched a fierce critique of the Congress-led Himachal government, accusing it of widespread corruption within the Power Corporation and calling for a CBI investigation into the suspicious death of Vimal Negi, the Corporation’s Chief Engineer. Thakur claims the case is more intricate than it appears, with allegations pointing to corruption worth thousands of crores. He condemned the government and police for allegedly shifting blame onto the deceased official.

Thakur criticized the government for ignoring the pleas of Negi’s family and shielding corrupt officials. He questioned why the government is hesitant to act against those implicated by the Corporation and instead is probing the late officer’s assets, calling it a clear case of injustice and misgovernance.

Additionally, Thakur took aim at Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu for what he described as repetitive and empty speeches over the past three years. He accused the government of failing to introduce new welfare measures or fulfill promises, instead blaming the previous BJP regime and the Centre. Thakur also pointed out that many schemes touted as state achievements are actually funded by the Centre, with more money spent on publicity than implementation. He reiterated the need for a CBI probe to uncover the truth in the Vimal Negi case.
