Himachal should unite against the increasing drug abuse : Pratibha

State Congress President Pratibha Singh has called upon all the people of the state to come forward unitedly against the increasing drug abuse, chitta, charas and said that all political parties should also come forward for the welfare of the society and the youth to end this. She has urged the BJP not to pursue political interests on this serious problem and to give its full support to the government and society against the increasing drug abuse.

In a press statement here today, Pratibha Singh said that the Congress government in the state is working strongly to eliminate chitta and other drugs. The police is also actively conducting massive crackdown on drug smugglers and people associated with it.

Pratibha Singh has said that there is a great need to run a public awareness campaign against the increasing drug addiction in the state, in which the participation of parents as well as all sections of the society, youth and women’s groups, social organizations, sports associations and youth should be ensured. She said that in some places in the state, people have started a campaign against drug addiction in the panchayats, which is a very commendable step. She said that to free the youth from this drug addiction, there is a great need to include them in the mainstream and make them aware about their lives. She has said that there is a need to keep a close eye on where this drug is coming from in the state and who is selling it. For this, along with intensive search on all the borders of the state, the secret information system should be strengthened more. She said that today chitta and other drugs have taken the lives of hundreds of people, which is a matter of great concern.

Pratibha Singh has appealed to the youth to move ahead in the direction of securing their and their family’s future by staying away from all kinds of addiction and focusing on sports and yoga for their physical and intellectual development.
