Chetan Bragta Advocates for Key Infrastructure Projects in Meeting with Union Minister Ajay Tamta

BJP state spokesperson Chetan Bragta recently met with Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Ajay Tamta, in New Delhi, to push for the approval of two critical infrastructure projects: the Khadapathar Tunnel and the Chaila-Solan Horticulture Road. Bragta urged the minister to designate these projects as national-level initiatives, emphasizing their importance for the local economy and community.

During the discussion, Bragta underscored the transformative impact the Khadapathar Tunnel would have on the Jubbal-Kotkhai region in Shimla district. He explained that the existing road is fraught with dangers due to treacherous terrain, heavy snowfall, and sharp bends, making travel hazardous for farmers and horticulturists. The proposed tunnel would not only enhance safety but also cut travel time by 40%, ensuring that apples and other horticultural produce reach markets faster and fresher. Beyond agriculture, the tunnel is expected to boost tourism and stimulate economic growth in the area.

Bragta also highlighted the urgent need to upgrade the Chaila-Solan Horticulture Road, advocating for its development as a national highway or a four-lane road. He pointed out that the current narrow and dilapidated condition of the road severely hampers the transportation of fruits, putting farmers at a disadvantage. Improving this route would provide better connectivity to major markets in Chandigarh, Delhi, and Solan, enabling farmers to fetch better prices for their produce and improve their livelihoods.

In addition to these projects, Bragta raised broader concerns about the poor state of roads and infrastructure in the Jubbal-Kotkhai region, stressing the daily challenges faced by horticulturists. Minister Ajay Tamta responded positively, assuring Bragta that the central government would prioritize addressing these issues and take necessary steps to improve road connectivity in the area.

Bragta expressed hope and gratitude for the minister’s receptive approach, noting that the meeting marked a significant step forward in securing much-needed infrastructure development for Himachal Pradesh. He remains optimistic that these projects will soon receive the green light, bringing relief and progress to the region’s farmers and residents.
