Central team reviewed the TB eradication campaign in Junga
Under the 100-day campaign being run to eradicate TB disease in the entire country, the team of Central TB Division Delhi visited Civil Hospital Junga. The central team expressed satisfaction over the work done by the health department under this campaign in Junga area. Medical Officer of the hospital Dr. Manoj Verma said that under this campaign, sputum, saliva and chest X-ray of only ten percent of the total population is being done. Out of the total population of 3028 in Junga city, 308 people are being examined, out of which the examination of 90 people has been completed so far and this campaign will be completed on March 24. On this occasion, the central team also told the ASHA workers the methods of taking sputum and saliva samples.
Dr Manoj told that during the examination, symptoms of TB were found in one person and TB medicines have been started for him. Apart from this, symptoms of TB were found in 06 people on X-ray and after complete examination, medicines will be started for these patients soon. He told that there is very little awareness about this disease among people and people are not coming forward voluntarily to get their sputum and saliva tested. He told that in remote areas, the department will take the X-ray machine to the field for chest examination.
TB disease supervisor Anmol Koondel said that if a person is having symptoms like cough, fever for more than two weeks or weight loss, blood in sputum, sweating etc. then it is mandatory for such a person to get tested in the nearest health institution. He said that all the facilities are available in Junga for testing the symptoms of TB disease. He said that apart from sputum and blood tests, chest X-rays etc. are also being done in the hospital.
