Gobind Sagar Lake to Offer Parasailing Adventures Starting Next Week

In an exciting development for adventure enthusiasts, Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur is all set to introduce parasailing boat rides starting next week. The district administration has greenlit a two-month trial for this activity, aiming to expand the region’s water tourism offerings. If the trial proves successful, the company conducting the operations will receive a long-term permit to run parasailing activities in the lake.

Currently, the lake offers popular attractions like cruises, shikaras, and speed boats. With the addition of parasailing, both locals and tourists will have even more reasons to visit this serene destination. A Delhi-based company has been invited to conduct the trial, and their parasailing boats have already arrived at Mandi-Bharari, where the activities will begin shortly.

Bilaspur Set to Become a Pioneer in North India’s Adventure Tourism

Bilaspur is poised to become the first district in North India to offer parasailing boat rides. The two-month trial period will help the administration and tourism department assess the feasibility and safety of the activity. If all goes well, the district’s regulatory committee will grant technical approval and issue an operational permit to the company.

Gobind Sagar Lake is already gaining traction as a prime water tourism destination. Activities such as cruises, shikaras, and speed boats were launched in October and formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on October 28. The upcoming parasailing experience is expected to elevate the lake’s status as a sought-after adventure hub.

Vision to Transform Bilaspur into a Water Sports Hub

Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur, Abid Hussain Sadiq, shared his vision for the district. “Parasailing activities will begin next week on a trial basis for two months. If the trial is successful, the district-level regulation committee will grant the necessary approvals, and a formal permit will be issued. Our aim is to establish Bilaspur as a hub for water sports and adventure tourism,” he said.

With these ongoing developments, Gobind Sagar Lake is shaping up to be a favorite destination for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike, further boosting tourism and economic growth in the region.
