Weather is mainly pleasant – Mercury is 6.6 degrees above normal in Shimla
Giving major respite from extremely cold weather maximum temperature stayed about five to six degrees above normal as it was mainly pleasant weather in the state’s capital town on Saturday.
According to the Indian meteorological department, Himachal recorded abnormally high temperatures . Shimla recorded 17.5 degrees and 6.6 degrees above normal, Tourist resorts Manali, Kufri, and Dalhousie were 16.5, 15, and 16.8 degrees respectively, and about five to six degrees above normal.
The weather conditions during the day were mainly sunny and crystal clear sky and partly cloudy sky in night bringing major respite from extremely cold weather in all the hill stations.
However in the low-lying areas during the wee hours and in the morning dense fog conditions and chilly winter affect the movement of vehicular traffic and delayed running of trains.
IMD also sounded alert for the low-lying areas of further aggregating dense to very dense conditions in the isolated pockets during the next three days in the districts of Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, Kangra (Nurpur), Sirmaur (Paonta Sahib & Dhola Kuan) and Solan (Baddi and Nalagarh).
Commuters are cautioned to carefully drive during morning hours and dry cold and foggy conditions may impact agriculture crops causing yellowing of tips, stunted growth, discoloration, and wilting.
A western disturbance is likely to bring light rains and snow on the high reaches of Himachal from January 16 onwards.
