5th November declared as a ‘Paid Holiday’

A spokesperson of the State Government informed here today that 5th November, 2023 has been declared as a ‘Paid Holiday’ in the areas of Municipal Council Ward No. 02 Miyanpur of Nagar Panchayat Arki, District Solan and Ward No. 06 Chhawanivir Hospital, Nagar Panchayat Chopal district Shimla, whereby election is scheduled to be held to fill up vacant seats in the aforementioned Municipal Council. He said that it would be a paid holiday only in case if poll is held.

                   He said that all Government offices, Boards, Corporations, Educational Institutions and Industrial establishments situated in the Himachal Pradesh under Industrial Disputes Act and shops would remain closed on the said date in the areas of above concerned Institutions where By-Elections for ULBs are scheduled to be held. This would also be a paid holiday to daily wages employees and also within the meaning of Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act 1881, he added.

                   He clarified that special casual leave may be given to those employees who were working in different places in the State but have a right to vote in concerned institutions where the By-Elections was scheduled to be held on the production of certificate from the concerned Presiding Officer that the employees has actually cast his/her vote.
