State Excise sleuths recovers difference of stock tune to Rs 96.84 lakh  in Katha Unit

An Inspection of a Katha Unit, in Sirmour District has been carried out on Thursday by a team comprising Assistant Commissioner of State Taxes & Excise Paonta Sahib-1 and other officials under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of State Taxes & Excise (South Zone) Shimla. The inspection has been conducted as per the provisions of Himachal Pradesh Goods and Service Tax (HPGST) Act, 2017.During the course of detailed inspection and physical verification, a stock variation of Rs. 96.84 lakh has been detected. The taxpayer has admitted to the variation and deposited a sum of about Rs. 20.05 lakh voluntarily, as reported by inspecting team. The further proceedings will be conducted as per the provisions of HPGST Act in this matter. The State Taxes & Excise Department is keeping strict vigil and directions have already been issued to all concerned officers to detect cases where tax evasion is involved and take necessary action accordingly.
